Robotics With Ms Chowfin Summary

The Design Process
The design process is the process of creating something. There are six steps in the process. 1. Ask, 2. imagine, 3. plan, 4. create, 5. experiment, 6. improve. We have used this process ourselves while designing our Mars lander. We asked how we were going to make it, then we made the design on paper. Then we imagined what we wanted it to look like. We planned what we were going to use and make it look like. However we are still yet to create anything in the real world, but we have created a rough design in Tinker Cad. We are still yet to experiment or improve our designs but we are close to the 5th step.

JavaScript with Sphero
JavaScript is one of the world’s best known and most used pieces of coding. Currently we are learning how to make our sphero move with this coding. The video to the right of the text is what we are writing to make our sphero move or roll around. While we still need to make some adjustments before we have fully completed it is a good start for our work. Eventually we will be making our Mars Lander, chassis and all move using this code.

A Bit About InSight
InSight is a mission to Mars that is meant to measure a large number of things. The mission is being spearheaded by NASA and will be doing things such as measuring the temperature of Mars, and even go back to the planet’s beginnings. The main premise of the entire mission is to find out what goes on underneath the red planet’s surface. NASA knows plenty of things about the surface and the atmosphere, but little to nothing about what happens underneath. The information gained from this mission can help them with other planets in the future, even those outside of our Solar System.
Hypothesis
Our design will work on most if not all terrains because we have tested it. It is a robust design and can turn in all directions. We believe this idea can be successful in many ways.

Supporting My Hypothesis
  • I think this is what’s going to happen because…Our Robot design has this shape because it is robust and allows for the most movement
  • Our Robot will navigate the terrain with these features because we have tested it and it did turn in all directions

The Mission

Our Mission to Mars is to get information about the planet. The reason why we would want this information is because the more information we have means that we may be able to find a way to make Mars habitable and solve many issues that Earth is experiencing

9Art

These are artworks that I did in Art. The first was an introduction to art and shading. The second piece of artwork here is a water colour painting. It was based off of an artwork by Vincent Van Gogh. The last picture was a drawing we had to do of a robot doing an activity. For my I made him walk a raccoon.

Python Turtle Game

Today in class we made a Spaceship game made with Python. The code makes a little arrow appear. By clicking on the window that appears when you click the play button, you can move the arrow around. To move it around you have to press the WAS and D keys. These will make it move forward, back, left and right.
